It's been a loooooonnnnng time but I am back on the blogging wagon! This is a brief follow up to my last post. We did go on some of those field trips I blogged about previously. I took them to the Civil War Armory Museum in downtown Baton Rouge. We researched the battle of Baton Rouge and found out a lot of things I never knew about the history of my city. We also went to the State Capital building and toured it. We toured the LSU Andonie Museum, which is the sports museum for the university. I took them to a goat farm where they learned about the pasteurization process for milk and got to sample goat milk and cheeses. We visited the George Rodrigue exhibit at LSU Museum of Art. We didn't get to do all of the things we wanted, but I am pleased with the things we did do. I completely forgot to get them to record video while we were on our trips and am disappointed about that! I would love to have their ideas and thoughts on video. Oh well. We also did some of the typical summer fun stuff. We swam a lot, went to movies, Chuck E Cheese, planted a flower bed and did lots of arts and crafts. This is the very first time I was able to be a stay at home mom since my kids were born. I have to say, it is by far, the happiest I have ever been. While I am not happy about getting laid off, I wouldn't trade that time for anything. Financially, like so many other household, we need my salary. But, I truly believe that God meant for mothers to be home with their kids. It was an amazing summer and one I will always cherish.
I would love to hear what other people did over their summer with the kids!
